The City of North Port will be sponsoring several activities during the month of October in honor of City Government Week, including a “People’s Choice Video Contest” and the City’s annual “Government on Wheels” program.
City Government Week is a program first started by the Florida League of Cities. The week of October 17-23, 2010 will be known as City Government Week statewide and celebrated in many Florida cities. The City will kick off the celebration with a resolution that will be read by the North Port City Commission during a meeting on September 13, 2010. Traditionally, North Port has celebrated City Government Week throughout the entire month of October.
Many activities are being scheduled in anticipation of City Government Week, including:
- The scheduling of speaking engagements by City Commissioners, administrators and department directors throughout the community. This program is known as our "Government on Wheels" program. If your organization is interested in having a city official as a guest speaker, please contact Utilities Public Relations Supervisor Peggy Parillo at (941) 240-8007 or at mparillo@cityofnorthport.com.
