Welcome to the Department of General Services where our mission is to provide our customers community-based programs, customer-focused services, technology-driven information by a highly-talented workforce to ensure the citizens of North Port enjoy a viable and sustainable quality of life. Our services and programs are delivered through the divisions of Human Resources/Risk Management, Parks & Recreation, Social Services and Information & Technology.
General Services Director Sherry Borgsdorf brings to the City over 25 years of management experience – 12 in local government. In addition to her director duties overseeing programs and services provided by Parks & Recreation, Social Services and Information & Technology, she is also division manager for Human Resources/Risk Management. Sherry graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Business Administration. She is one of the original N.I.C.E. Guys, serving as an executive sponsor for the volunteer program “Neighborhood Initiatives by City Employees.”
Parks & Recreation Manager Bill Ward is entering his 32nd year in the Parks & Recreation profession and has a degree in Leisure Services and Studies. He joined the City’s team in October 2002 and is responsible for providing recreational services and a safe and clean park system for the North Port community.
Social Services Manager Zulma Solero has been a “guardian angel” for the citizens of North Port since 1985. She oversaw the construction of the new 15,000 sq. ft. Family Service Center where 12 partner agencies provide assistance to those in the community who need it most.
Information & Technology Manager Brad Schuette came to the City in early 2008 with two degrees in Computer Science and 28 years of industry experience. Working with a multi-talented team of technology professionals, the division has successfully planned and implemented many new enterprise-wide system upgrades which have increased operational efficiencies and enhanced customer service.
Executive Assistant Cheryl Greiner came to the City of North Port in early 2006 from the private sector. She quickly became known by her peers as the “go to” person for General Services. Her drive to provide outstanding customer service is valued by citizens and employees alike.
