City property taxes and District assessment rates are set forth by the North Port City Commission during the Budget and Public Hearing meetings. This process takes place June through September. The approved rates are sent to Sarasota County to be placed on the Notices and the Yearly Property Tax Bills. This year your August Ad Valorem "TRIM" and Non-Ad Valorem "Notices" were placed on one document with the Ad Valorem on the front and the Non-Ad Valorem on the back of the notice. Your yearly property tax bill which consists of both the Ad Valorem and Non-Ad Valorem is mailed the beginning of November by the Sarasota County Tax Collector. The City of North Port does not send out its own Notices or Tax Bills.
There are two parts to a property tax bill, the Ad Valorem and the Non-Ad Valorem.
"Ad Valorem" North Port Property Taxes
are based on the taxable value of property. The 2010 North Port Ad Valorem tax millage rate is proposed to remain the same as last year which is 3.34 mills. (3.3400 per $1,000 of the taxable value.) The overall 2010 certified "Taxable Value" of $2,487,045,288 for the City of North Port is a 16.04% decrease from last year. Should your property value go down from last year, you would be paying less for the North Port Ad Valorem portion of your tax bill if no exemption changes were made.
"Non-Ad Valorem" North Port District Assessments
are based on services which are provided by the North Port Districts listed below.
Fire Rescue District
Road & Drainage District
North Port Solid Waste District
