As the largest city in Sarasota County with more than 60,000 residents and spanning more than 104.1 square miles, North Port offers a variety of ways for local residents to get involved in their local government, from joining an advisory board to volunteering to help with office tasks.

Our residents truly make a difference every day. After all, this is the City where you can "Achieve Anything."

Here are some ways you can get involved:

Adopt-A-Park Program
Coordinated by the General Services Department, the City offers an Adopt-A-Park program to anyone interested in adopting a specific park to keep it clean and beautiful.

Adopt-A-Street Program
Coordinated by the Public Works Department, the City offers an Adopt-A-Street program for anyone interested in adopting a specific street or stretch of roadway to keep clean and beautiful.

Join a City Advisory Board
The City Commission has several Advisory Boards. Members of these boards volunteer their time to offer their advice and assistance on City projects, programs, and services.

Join a Sarasota County Advisory Board
Sarasota County has advisory boards for its Board of County Commissioners. North Port residents are encouraged to serve and represent the City on these advisory boards for the County.

North Port Volunteer Program
The North Port Police Department organizes a citywide volunteer program that helps place volunteers inside the offices of City Hall to assist where needed.

Join the Medical Hospital Task Force
In 2016, the North Port City Commission created a Medical Hospital Task Force to work on bringing a hospital to North Port. This task force is in need of members.
