Road Bond Project work for the week of April 10 – April 14, 2017:

Work has started in the final two phases of the Road Bond Project: Phases 7 and 8.  Paving crews will be working in the neighborhoods near Grandview Drive.  Milling crews will be working in neighborhoods near Brewster Road and Wenona Drive.  Stormwater pipe crews will be working on the west side of Atwater Drive.  There will also be a separate pipe crew working near North Port Boulevard, Greenwood Avenue and Talbrook Road.  Please anticipate periodic road closures and use caution when traveling in these areas.

Restoration crews will be planting sod adjacent to newly paved roadways and cleaning up construction debris throughout the City, especially in areas where milling and paving was recently completed.  Roadway shoulders will be graded and any additional low spots will be filled along the edge of the pavement.

The Road Bond Project is one of the largest road rehabilitation projects in the City’s history.  On November 6, 2012, nearly 60 percent of voters approved a referendum authorizing the City to obtain a $46 million bond to upgrade 266 miles of roadways in North Port.  The Road Bond Project consists of eight phases of work.  Phases 1-6 have already been completed.  Work in 2016 was slightly delayed due to unforeseen utility conflicts.
